Sparks Nevada

Rail City

The city of Sparks, Nevada is an easygoing town right next door to Reno, but this community of about 100,000 residents certainly knows when to turn up the fun. Originally a swathe of Truckee Meadows ranch lands, Sparks rocks its railroad heritage with its nickname, “Rail City,” and draws visitors with wild annual events, recreation along the Truckee River, and prime shopping, as the outlet capital of Washoe County. Sparks hotels offer magnificent views of the Sierra Nevada mountains and are a great base of operations for your next northern Nevada getaway.

Sparks, named for Nevada Governor John Sparks, sprang up in 1904 as the site of a major, new Southern Pacific Railroad switch yard, earning it the nickname “Rail City.” In the 1950s, while Reno rose to casino town fame, Sparks remained a quieter neighbor. Get a close-up glimpse of the region’s history and heritage at the Sparks Museum & Cultural Center, where you’ll be greeted by local icon Last Chance Joe, the colorful 32-foot-tall miner dude who stands tall above downtown Sparks.

I called and left a message with the answering service. The owner called back within 10min. They where nice and professional. We had a water in our sons bedroom. We did not know where the water was coming from and they do leak detection. Dave came out and was able to tell us where the water was coming from. I highly recommend them. They where fast and friendly and just what we needed in this stressful situation.

A little over two years ago, I contracted Reno Plumbing Doctor for a water heater repair that turned into a water heater installation. At that time, the installer and his assistant were prompt, professional, and did an amazing job. I realize I should have written a review then, but it just slipped my mind. Fast forward 2+ years later, and there was an issue with the controller for the water heater. I was having some renovations done, so my gas line was turned off. When it was turned back on, the pilot light had gone out on the water heater and I found that I couldn't get it lit again. Remembering who installed the water heater, I called Reno Plumbing Doctor again, told them the nature of my emergency, and they sent someone out the same day. The contractors working on my house were amazed that someone would come out that quickly, and several of them asked who I was using (potential future customers). When the technician arrived, he was able to troubleshoot the problem and replaced the entire controller. With everything working again, he then told me that the two-year warranty on the water heater actually ran out two weeks prior, but Reno Plumbing Doctor WOULD HONOR IT ANYWAY, since it was so close. I know plenty of companies that would not do this, at least not without some hefty pursuasion, but Reno Plumbing Doctor obviously wants to retain my business and is willing to do what it takes to make that happen. All my experiences with this company have been positive, if not outright glowing, so I would heartily recommend them for anyone's plumbing needs. Barring some drastic change on their end, I will never use anyone else.

I called around to my usual plumbers. My water main pipe was misting water out. I thought about waiting to see if it got worse, and looked up some DIY fixes. I'm so glad I didn't. Mark, the owner, came the very next day and as soon as he saw the rust figured it out. Where to cut etc. He drew me a diagram of what he'd be doing. He came the next morning right when he said he would, and fixed it. He uses the highest quality parts and does the highest quality job. He explained some plumbing issues that I'd been told we're necessary to find out they are just not. Things that can be repaired instead of replaced. I appreciate that a lot now that my husband died and I have less money. I'll always call Reno Plumbing Doctor for any problem I have. Thank you Mark.
